Shinjo & Mogami Tour - from Taiwan
Taiwanese men and women take part in the Shinjo & Mogami Tour. We are bringing you the highlights of this 3-day 2-night stay involving hot springs, making soba noodles and traditional crafts.
These 4 people will be taking part in the Shinjo & Mogami tour.
From left to right
- Mr.Lin: Lin is currently studying to become a Japanese language guide!
- Ms.Zhang: Zhang loves traditional Japanese culture such as kimonos and flower arrangements!
- Ms.Chen: Chen is especially fascinated with going to hot springs in the Tohoku Region.
- Mr.Lee: Lee came to like Japan due to Japanese anime, dramas and variety shows.

SHINJO MOGAMI MANGA MUSEUM
Works from manga artists in the Shinjo & Mogami Region are on display here. The Kamuten Shrine offered by the Shinjo City character Kamuten designed by Yoshihiro Togashi from Shinjo City who is the creator of HUNTER x HUNTER is located here. The 4 were surprised that Yoshihiro Togashi is from Shinjo.

We recommend making a reservation (they offer a site with in traditional Chinese characters). They have a lot of models and the interiors are spic and span. (Learning about the Shinjo Festival and city history)
Shinjo City historical center
The history of the Shinjo Festival which was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in November 2016 as well as 2 floats are permanently on display. The 4 listen enthusiastically as citizens give descriptions on the manual production of the floats, the over 260 year history and stories about the festival. They take a picture wearing happi coats. We can overhear one say they want to go next year.

Yutori-Ann
This Japanese style sweets café established in 1935 is run by a bean jam producer. Their products focusing on bean jam including oshiruko red bean jam soup, zenzai red bean soup and anmitsu are all originally crafted. The 4 open their hearts to the Japanese style interior and the friendly conversation with the store owner while giving high praises saying "the perfect amount of sweetness makes for a great taste!" Japanese people also love this place.

This inn features local cuisine using ingredients from farmers in the area. There is an open-air bath on the 5th floor where you can take a bath while taking in landscapes of the four seasons such as autumn leaves and a winter landscape. The interior is all Japanese with Japanese style dressers and irori hearths allowing guests to enjoy a genuine Japanese experience.

Cave onsen MATSUYA
The 40m cave bath excavated by craftsmen in the early 20th century is famous. These hot springs are highly effective in maintaining beautiful skin and keeping your body warm. This inn is highly regarded for its cuisine using loads of local ingredients such as Yamagata Beef Sukiyaki, charcoal grilled items and Handmade Soba Noodles as well as the friendly service from the staff.
