The Shinjo Kame-aya Ori Weaving Preservation Society
Workshop Hata-ori Nagaya
Shinjo Kame-aya Ori weaving which was started in the around the early 19th century requires advanced techniques. These techniques are currently being passed down to future generations by the members of the preservation society. Thin silk thread is used so even experts take a full day to weave 10cm. The groups hears this and they are impressed by the high level of Japanese technology. They take on the challenge of making a plain weave coaster.

Umeya
This shop is famous for the Shinjo soul food Chicken Giblet Ramen. The ramen uses fresh chicken giblets raised locally and the taste is adored by people of all ages. The group of 4 say that Taiwanese people would love this flavor. They are impressed that the reason people eat chicken giblets is because the people of Shinjo place vaue on food and don't want to waste anything.

Getapan
There is a variety of baked goods using Japanese wheat, whole wheat flour, natural yeast and seasonal ingredients.
The women are in love with the bakery's interior and end up buying a whole bunch of items. The 4 are captivated by the great tasting combination of bean paste and butter which they say they would never see in Taiwan.

Mogami Bussankan
At the end of their trip, the stop by Mogami Bussankan in the Shinjo Station. This shop offers Yamagata specialty goods. The 4 who buy souvenirs labeled "limited regionally" have a conversation after buying souvenirs such as Kamuten goods, natto fermented soybean soup and the brand name sweets Ajisai. Take these to your friends and family in Taiwan to show off the allure of Shinjo and Mogami.
