Boat ride down the Mogami River

They enjoy a boat ride down the Mogami River which is one of the three largest rapid streams in Japan and appears in Matsuo Basho's work entitled Oku-no-Hosomichi while taking in the wonderful scenery. You can enjoy views of the 120m tall Shiraito Falls while getting a close-up look of the waterfowl which ride with the river stream. The boatman surprises them by singing the Mogami River Boat Song in Chinese. The winter only boats with kotatsu heated tables are also very popular.

Shinjo Higashiyama-yaki Pottery Workshop

You can enjoy this pottery workshop in the historical Kamamoto Pottery which opened in 1841. The group of 4 are impressed with the vivid blue color called "Dewa Snow Shade" which can only be made with clay from this area. They carefully spin the potter's wheel, making cups, plates and bowls. Let's see how they will turn out.
